Housing is an integral part of offering safety, security and social equitability to our citizens. We can only achieve a fair and equitable community in Watford when everyone here, regardless of their level of income are able to live comfortably and contribute to a better society.
Many, including key workers from our police force and NHS who dream about owning their first home but are unable to afford this because there is not enough affordable housing. Unfortunately, the local government has not addressed this issue effectively.
Our initiative to develop affordable housing is key in tackling this challenge and getting people on to the property ladder.
It is also our responsibility to develop affordable housing in a sustainable manner but avoid overcrowding and overdevelopment.
It is paramount for us to focus not only on developing affordable housing, but at the same time also improve infrastructure that will support new developments and lead to sustainable growth, prosperity and well-being.
