TRANSPORT

Transport is the backbone to development and a thriving economy. Unfortunately, our Lib Dem-run local council has failed to invest thoughtfully in developing our local transport facilities.

Traffic and lack of sufficient car parking is a particular challenge. This is hurting local businesses in our parades and high streets – St Alban’s road businesses are an example. These businesses would flourish better if we had better planning and development.

Vanity spending of over £750,000 on projects such as the Beryl Bike scheme which has been a disaster and a poor return over investment without careful consideration of the needs of our local resident has resulted in the LibDem’s over spending and their need to levy additional council taxes to run our Lib Dem-run local council.

As your local representative, improving local transport will be one of my priorities. I will work hard in contributing to:

  • Work with Herts County Council to assess the phasing of traffic lights at the Ring Road and the Dome Roundabout
  • Improved planning for better car parking facilities
  • Improve Watford Junction station needs with more investment and comprehensive redevelopment
  • Back MP Dean Russell’s efforts to hold Northwestern Railway to account and to improve its services

Keep the existing Watford Metropolitan station open, with bolstering plans for any future Metropolitan line extension
