6 GOOD REASONS TO VOTE CONSERVATIVE IN MERIDEN TUDOR
WE MUST STOP THE OVER-DEVELOPMENT OF WATFORD - AND STOP BUILDING HIGH-RISE FLATS
We need to stop building as much as we can as quickly as we can. We need a
planning policy that reflects the heritage of Watford as a county market town.
We must stop demolishing family homes to build high-rise flats with insufficient
parking. We need to invest in a cleaner environment and better infrastructure.
WE MUST BACK OUR LOCAL BUSINESSES
Our local businesses have done so much throughout the pandemic. We need to
support our local shops with things like short-term parking solutions for customers. The LibDem’s war on car-owners has become a war on local shop-owners. We must save Watford Market. It has a Royal Charter going back hundreds of years. It should be a source of pride, attracting people to the town centre.
WE MUST HAVE WEEKLY GENERAL RUBBISH
COLLECTIONS AND NO TAXES ON GARDENING
Collecting rubbish is a core Council service – not something we should pay
extra for. We should have a weekly general rubbish collection. The tax on
gardening – making us pay to have our garden waste collected – hurts hardworking families with modest gardens particularly badly. It must be stopped.
WATFORD SHOULD BE A CENTRE OF HEALTH
EXCELLENCE
We back our local MP Dean Russell’s efforts to make Watford a centre of health
excellence. The Conservative Government is investing £400 million locally –
much of it in the redevelopment of Watford General. We support Dean’s initiative
to make Watford a ‘well-being’ town with mental health as a top priority.
WE MUST HAVE A WELL-RESOURCED AND FULLY
OPERATIONAL POLICE STATION
We need a joined-up approach to tackle crime with the Borough, County and
Police & Crime Commissioner all working together. The silly political point-scoring
by our local Council must stop. We need safer streets and a full-service local
police station.
A COUNCIL TAX FREEZE - LETS GET BACK TO BASICS
Sometimes it seems money only gets spent locally if it creates a photo-opportunity for the local Mayor. All these vanity projects – such as glossy
magazines and cosmetic local projects such as re-doing the High Street pond
yet again – need to stop. We need to make sure core services are properly
funded. We must stop wasting money, end new stealth taxes on parking and
on gardening and freeze the local Council Tax to restore sound management.
Family
While there are many different family structures including single parent families, foster families or nuclear families, they all form the backbone in building a society where people are supported and cared for.
Community
I am proud to be part of the cosmopolitan and diverse community we have in Watford. Investing in our communities is investing in our future!
Education
As a career educator and instructor, I personally understand the opportunities that a good education can offer and help people elevate themselves socially and economically.
Housing
Housing is an integral part of offering safety, security and social equitability to our citizens. We can only achieve a fair and equitable community in Watford when everyone here.
Health
Health and Well-being is after all at the heart of our being, both as an individual and collectively as a community.
Safety
Feeling that our homes and our communities are safe in quintessential in our ability to function and excel in our lives.
Jobs and Local Economy
Watford was once leading not just in our country or even Europe, but the world, with the largest printing company and a thriving printing industry right at our door steps.
Transport
Transport is the backbone to development and a thriving economy. Unfortunately, our Lib Dem-run local council has failed to invest thoughtfully in developing our local transport facilities.
Environment & Green
Global warming is a threat we are all facing today. But how can we address this immediate and now very visible threat and be able to give our future generations a better world to live in?
